An IAS officer who was appointed as the Chief Minister’s Secretary in 2021 had a reputation for being highly influential, and there were continuous allegations that he controlled many others in power. He was known to have a close personal rapport with Chief Minister Stalin and was considered one of his most trusted officials. Surprisingly, at the height of his influence, he was transferred to another department last year. However, sources say his control within the government has not diminished. At a time when the state government, its ministers, and officials are facing ongoing controversies and corruption allegations, the way the media still projects him as a powerful figure has raised suspicions, even among some ministers. It is also said that no major project files could reach the Chief Minister without his approval, yet he remains untouched by any accusations. This has led to questions about why he has not been investigated. During his tenure, several sensitive and confidential matters related to the Chief Minister and ministers reportedly passed through his hands. Following that, there have been continuous raids by central enforcement agencies like the ED.There are also reliable reports that the Union Government is planning to target Tamil Nadu in the same way it did in Delhi and Telangana — through a series of raids and arrests before the 2026 elections. Several officers are said to be acting as ‘sleeper cells’ for this mission.Currently, efforts are underway to turn an officer named Visagan from the TASMAC corporation into an approver by bringing him under investigation. The Union Government is allegedly trying to tarnish the state government’s image using such strategies, and this former powerful officer is believed to have provided names of certain state officials to help them execute this plan.
