Prabhu was elected unopposed as the President of the Kandili Village Panchayat, which comes under the Kandili Union in Tirupattur district. Since assuming office, he has implemented several noteworthy initiatives that have significantly uplifted the community. One of his major accomplishments is the construction of a tar road stretching approximately 3 kilometers, connecting the Tirupattur–Krishnagiri main road to the foothills of the nearby hills. He has also played a crucial role in empowering the Irular community—an indigenous group that had long been marginalized—by providing them with house site pattas (land titles), thereby bringing them into the mainstream.
Prabhu transformed his village into a tuberculosis-free zone and made remarkable efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic by conducting awareness campaigns and ensuring that all residents under his panchayat were vaccinated. In his commitment to providing essential amenities, he constructed a water tank and established a pipeline system to supply clean and reliable drinking water to every household within his jurisdiction. His efforts have earned consistent recognition and awards from the District Collector.
Under the ‘Kalaignar Housing Scheme’, Prabhu has also facilitated housing for many underprivileged families in his village. Leaders like Prabhu, who work selflessly for the welfare of their communities, transcending caste, religion, and politics, truly deserve recognition and respect. Among the more than 12,500 village panchayat presidents across Tamil Nadu, socially conscious leaders like Prabhu stand out as role models. South Indian Voice takes pride in highlighting such exemplary individuals.
