Kanagaraj, one of the prominent leaders of the Communist Party, has strongly criticised the appointment of Dr. C. Srikumar as a member of the Tamil Nadu State Board for Wildlife, constituted under the leadership of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Dr. Srikumar is currently serving as the Head of the Wildlife Department at Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. Kanagaraj has raised serious questions about the suitability of the appointment in view of the doctor’s alleged social media activities and political views.

According to Kanagaraj, Dr. Srikumar’s Facebook posts allegedly reflect strong hostility towards Communist parties and the Congress, anti-Muslim sentiments, support for Israel’s actions in Gaza, admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and support for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. These alleged views have raised concerns about the suitability of an individual holding an important public position.

Kanagaraj has questioned who recommended Dr. Srikumar for this important position in the Tamil Nadu government’s wildlife conservation body and what their intentions were. He has called upon the government to investigate the background of the recommendation and review the appointment. He has also demanded that Dr. Srikumar be removed from the State Board for Wildlife if the allegations are substantiated.

Describing the alleged political hostility and anti-Muslim sentiments as a reflection of a “rotten mind”, Kanagaraj has issued a strong warning against allowing individuals with such divisive outlooks to occupy public positions. He stressed that institutions entrusted with wildlife conservation must uphold public responsibility, social harmony and constitutional values.
