In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Tamil Nadu government has appointed new Deans to 17 government medical colleges and filled several long-vacant top positions in the state’s health department.The posts of Director in the Public Health Department (DPH) and the Medical and Rural Health Services Department (DMS) had fallen vacant following the retirement of Selva Vinayagam (DPH) and Rajamurthy (DMS) last month. The role of Director of Family Welfare had also remained without a full-time appointee until now.Several Dean positions in government medical colleges – including Stanley Medical College in Chennai and Coimbatore Medical College – had been unoccupied for months. After a review and selection process, Health Secretary Senthilkumar issued orders for the appointments.Key Director-Level AppointmentsA. The government stated that these appointments aim to strengthen medical education and improve public health administration in Tamil Nadu.
