Agriculture is the primary livelihood sector in Tamil Nadu. To take this sector further along the path of progress, the Tamil Nadu government has announced a key initiative in the 2025–26 agriculture budget—the “Chief Minister’s Farmers Service Centres”.Objective of the Scheme:These centres are designed to offer farmers all necessary support in one place. The aim is to enhance agricultural productivity and improve farming practices through scientific and technological means. The services offered at these centres include:High-quality seedsFertilizersTechnical guidanceA budget allocation of ₹42 crore has been made for this scheme. A total of 1,000 centres are to be established across Tamil Nadu.Personnel and Technical Support:Each centre will be staffed by 4,000 graduate-level agricultural experts and 600 diploma-qualified personnel. Through them, farmers will receive:Crop advisoryTraining on natural fertilizersGreen certification guidanceClimate-based crop recommendationsWhere Will the Centres Operate?These centres will be located in green zones, villages with poor irrigation facilities, and areas with high agricultural demand.
